Abstract

The title "Global Citizenship Education and Intercultural Competence" underscores the critical intersection of education and cultural understanding in shaping a more interconnected and harmonious world. This paper delves into the significance of global citizenship education (GCE) as a framework for fostering intercultural competence among learners. It posits that GCE not only equips individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate a globalized world but also encourages a mindset that values diversity and promotes social justice. The discussion highlights key aspects of GCE, such as the development of critical thinking, empathy, and the ability to engage in respectful dialogue across cultural boundaries. Furthermore, the paper examines the role of educational institutions in implementing GCE programs and the importance of incorporating intercultural competencies into the curriculum. It concludes by emphasizing the long-term benefits of GCE for building sustainable global communities and suggests strategies for enhancing intercultural competence in educational settings.
